Grave of Marilla Jane Rogers (b. 1824 - d. 1897) at Walnut Creek Cemetery. The cemetery, once known as Camp Hualapai (Walapai) Cemetery, started off as a military cemetery until it was abandoned by the U.S. Army in 1873. Civilian headstones are dated 1881-1897 with nine visible graves, along with military graves. Written on the back of photo: "Grandmother Rogers' grave at Walnut Creek, Ariz. She was buried March 6, 1897. This picture was taken Aug 9, 1971 by Myrtle Zeller. Dr. Frank Zeller, grandson, in picture. 42 miles from Prescott, Ariz. The headstone was made by her husband and a verse he composed carved into it by him & is still legible."
