Rose Garden PhotographsNora Catherine (Larremore) Kinsman Roberts Ryan Gray Alexander was born on July 1, 1890, in Globe, Gila County, Arizona Territory, the daughter of Sarah Jane (Milne) and Lebious Thadious Larremore. When she was very young, the family moved to Humboldt, Yavapai County, Arizona Territory.

Nora married Charles Henry Kinsman on February 17, 1907, at the McCabe mining camp in Yavapai County. Charles died May 18, 1910, five months before the death of Nora’s father, L.T. Larremore. Ten years later, she married Webster M. Roberts on April 3, 1920, at Prescott. The couple had a son, Webster Larremore Roberts, born July 24, 1922. The Weekly Journal-Miner of July 26, 1922 reported: “Mr. and Mrs. Webster M. Roberts are rejoicing over the birth of a son weighing nine pounds, at 12:20 o’clock yesterday.” Webster, Sr. died May 7, 1926, at Fort Whipple after a struggle of more than six years with tuberculosis. Nora married three more times: to Clayton Felix Ryan, Warren Gray and James Leffell Alexander. All three marriages ended in divorce.

When the 1930 census was taken, Nora and son Webster were living with her husband, Clayton Ryan, in San Bernardino, California. By 1940, Nora had married Warren Gray, and they were ranching at the Agua Fria River, in Yavapai County, Arizona.

Nora worked for several years at the U. S. Army Hospital at Dugway Proving Grounds in Dugway, Utah. Possessing a generous nature and willingness to help others, she was a hard and dedicated worker. She received a letter of citation from Colonel Paul Milton for outstanding job service.

Her granddaughter, Bonnie Martini, claims Nora was one of the best cooks around, had a great love for her son and family and spread good will during her lifetime. Nora died on June 29, 1979, in Sacramento, California, and is buried at Mountain View Cemetery in Prescott.

Nora’s mother, Sara Jane Larremore, and sisters, May (Larremore) Wilson and Mary Elizabeth (Larremore) Lange, are also represented in the Territorial Women’s Memorial Rose Garden.
