Richard "Dick" Michael L. Allen, Sr. (b.  1911 - d. 2004) was born on June 8, 1911 in Mesa, Arizona. He is the son of Warner and Fannie (Peterson) Allen. His family moved to Prescott when he was eight years old. Dick and his wife, Velma Louise (Christenson), were owners and operators of the Nu-Way Market and Dairy at the corner of Gurley and McCormick Streets.  Dick was very involved in singing with his Church and had the interesting hobby of racing pigeons and help start a pigeon racing club in Prescott.  Dick died on May 22, 2004 in Prescott.  He was survived by thirty-seven (37) grandchildren and forty-five (45) great-grandchildren.
