Lottie (James) Hartsfield (b. January 1845 - d. February, 1935) with her daughter, Lena Hartsfield in Phoenix, Arizona. Lena (Hartsfield) Malmin grew up to become one of the best known school teachers in Arizona.
Lena (Hartsfield) Malmin (b. 1882 - d. 1928) was born in Yavapai, Arizona in 1882. She was the daughter of Lottie, born in Missouri in September, 1846, and James Hartsfield, born in Georgia in August, 1842. She married Gorman Malmin on November 22, 1918 in Jerome, Arizona.
Lena attended the Tempe Normal School and was an instructor in penmanship in Prescott public schools. She taught 2nd and 3rd grades and was the principal of the Seligman school. During her career she was highly regarded by parents and pupils and was one of the best known teachers in Arizona.
Lena died in California on December 5, 1928.
Mrs. Lottie Hartsfield (b. 1846 - d. 1935) was born on September 1, 1846 in Buffalo, Missouri. She was the daughter of Samuel Williams, born in South Carolina, and Alice Edwards, born in Tennessee.
Lottie married James Hartsfield. She died on October 26,1935 at the Pioneer's Home in Prescott, Arizona. Her obituary was written by Sharlot M. Hall.
Handwriting on back of photo reads: "Mrs. Hartsfield, Lena Hartsfield (daughter) taken in Phoenix."
