Fred Sharpe Crowell (b. 1900 – d. 1966) was born December 26, 1900 (or November 26, 1900) in Texas. His parents were Frank Hill Crowell (1873-1906) and Nellie Rebecca (Peel) Crowell (1876-1962. He had two brothers who survived past infancy: Frank Thomas Crowell (1899-1976) and David Russell Crowell (1903-1973).
The 1940 census shows him as single and living in Oakland, Alameda, California with his mother. He is listed as being an agent for a wholesale gas distributor. Shortly after that, he relocated to Prescott, Arizona where he was a prominent businessman for over 30 years. He was a consignee for the Texaco Company, a position he held until his death.
He was one of the founders of the Antelope Hills Golf Course. He also was a member and held various positions with the Kiwanis Club; the Hassayampa Country Club; the Masonic Lodge; the Knights Templar; the Elks Lodge; the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Posse; the Prescott Chamber of Commerce; and the Smoki People. He was affiliated with St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
He died in a Phoenix hospital on November 9, 1966 and is buried in Prescott’s Mountain View Cemetery. At the time of his death, his brother Frank was living in Eastland, Texas and his brother David in Breckinridge, Texas.
