Nellie (Von Gerichten) Smith (b.1872 - d.unknown) was born in California in 1872. Her parents were Phillip Gerichten, born in Baden Baden, Germany in 1835 and Cecilia Gerichten, born in Hanover, Germany in 1841.
Nellie married Barnaby "Barney" Hathaway Smith on March 7,1893 in Prescott, Arizona. Her husband owned the Palace Bar in Prescott. Nellie helped him manage the bar. They had no children.
Nellie wrote a comic opera "The Twins of Bistritz" which was performed at the Elks Theater in Prescott. It drew the largest audience ever assembled in Prescott. The opera was considered a clever and well written production.
Handwriting on back of photograph reads: "Nellie Von Gerichten Smith at 20."
