Sylvester Waterman (b.1847 - d.1917) was born on October 7,1847 in St. Charles, Illinois. His parents were Eli Waterman, born in Rhode Island in 1814 and Amanda (Waldo) Waterman, born in Ohio in 1820.
The 1870 and 1880 U.S. Census in Wichita, Kansas listed Sylvester as a farmer.
The 1900 U.S. Census listed Sylvester in Wagoner, Yavapai County, Arizona. His occupation was gold miner.
Sylvester married Fanny Hill in 1881. They had one daughter, Addie (Waterman) Warner. Addie was admitted to the Arizona Pioneers' Home in Prescott in 1964.
Handwriting on photograph reads: "Vet Waterman, May, 1878. Sylvester ( "Vet") Waterman, Walnut Grove."
Sylvester died on June 20, 1917 in Glendale, Arizona. He is buried in the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Yavapai County, Arizona.
