Garland Chester Ross (b. 1886 - d. 1946) was born in Prescott, Arizona on December 5, 1886. His parents were Stephen Ross, born in Mercer County, Pennsylvania in 1850, and Minnie Alice Cogburn, born in Flushing, Michigan in 1865.
Stephen and Minnie came west shortly after their marriage and settled in Chino Valley, Arizona. Garland was born in 1886 and the family settled on the Garland Ranch where his father became the foreman and then part owner. The property then became known as the Garland and Ross property. The family left Prescott in 1897 and settled in Santa Ana, California.
Garland became a dentist in California and lived there for the remainder of his life.
He died on on November 22, 1946 in Los Angeles, California. He is buried at Fairhaven Memorial Park, Santa Ana, California.
Handwriting on the back of the photograph reads: "Garland Ross."
