Description

Albert Bernard,"Bert" Montgomery, Prescott Fire Department Chief from 1946 to 1947.

Bert was born 22, June, 1908 in Claysville, Pennsylvania. He moved to Prescott Arizona in 1933 from Seminole, Oklahoma.

In addition to volunteering at the fire department, Bert and his wife Evelyn owned and operated the Montgomery Cleaners at 206  Montezuma in Prescott. The couple also resided at this same address.

 Bert was an active community supporter, as his volunteer service in the Presscott Fire department shows but this was not his only particiapation in the Presscott community.  In Bert's obituary, Prescott Evening Courier, 20 March, 1970, it states that he was a member of "Prescott Elks Lodge 330 for 28 years, and the Yavapai County Jeep Posse for 8 years." Bert enlisted in the armed services 16,October 1940 and fought for the duration of W.W. II.

Bert passed away 1970 March 3rd. This was just three years after his wife, Eveline, had died.
