Dr. Ernest August Born (b. 1904 – d. 1980) was born on September 11, 1904 in Prescott, Arizona. He was one of nine children born to Margaret Barney Johnston Born and Charles Born. Charles was a miner in Colorado, then in Prescott, and then owned and operated the Elks Theater and other businesses.
Dr. Born graduated from Prescott High School in 1922 and received his Doctor of Medicine from Rush Medical College, University of Chicago in 1932. In June 1927 he married George Mieyr of Bisbee. They had two children: Ernest Edward and Marjorie Yvonne. He practiced medicine for almost 50 years and was assistant country physician for many years. In 1978, he was honored in Prescott as Humanitarian of the Year. During the Second World War, he served in the U. S. Army Medical Corps and continued in the reserve until 1956 when he retired as lieutenant colonel. He died on December 13, 1980 in Prescott. At the time of his death, he had been married to Elizabeth A. Cory for 35 years and was survived by daughters, Mrs. Marge Greth and Mrs. Susan Burr of Tucson, his son, Dr. Ernest F. Born of Phoenix and two stepchildren.
