Description

Helen R. Fairbanks was born in 1894, in Chicago. She was a teacher, a Red Cross girl, and a US Navy historian during the course of an eventful life. She joined the Navy in 1940, retired from it in 1964 as a lieutenant commander after a 21-year career, and settled in Prescott. At age 93, she returned to Prescott to review materials she had left in storage. She donated to Sharlot Hall Museum a number of First and Second World War pamphlets and Spanish-American War clippings, among other memorabilia.
