John A. Merrill (b. 1849 - d.?) was born in Wisconsin in 1849. He was the son of David Merrill, born in 1812 in Masachusetts, and Agnes Fonda, born in New York.
John married Maria Durham on June 19, 1876 in Rock, Wisconsin. They had four children.
John was a Presbyterian minister. He and his wife arrived in Prescott, Arizona in July, 1876 to establish a branch of the Presbyterian Church there, which he did.
Handwriting on back of photograph reads: "John A. Merrill, Mr. Merrill 1877. (b.1849-d.?).
