Hannah Maria (Frye) DeLong (b.1846 - d.1914) was born in Salem, Massachusetts on October 1, 1846 to Joseph Frye (b. 1802 - d. 1882) and Hannah Parsons Fry (b. 1805 - d. 1881). She was a member of an old New England banking family. She went to Tucson in 1878 and for 5 years was associated with the banking firm of A.P.S. Sanford in the capacity of bookkeeper and assistant cashier, at which time A.P.S. Sanford, president of the company, was governor of Arizona. She later identified with the David Hudson Banking Company, remaining there until 1894. She then became assistant postmaster of Tucson under J. Knox Corbett.
On June 1, 1893, she married Sidney Randolph DeLong (b. 1828 - d. 1914). Sidney Delong was a Civil War veteran and was the first elected mayor of Tucson, Arizona in 1871 for a one-year term. DeLong Street in Tucson and DeLong Peak in the Santa Catalina Mountains (northeast of Tucson) are named after him.
In 1911 Sharlot Hall visited her for a week in Tucson. Hannah Maria died on August 25, 1914 and she is buried in the Harmony Grove Cemetery in Salem. Her will stated that she was leaving Sharlot Hall $500 and “such black walnut furniture owned by me, as she wants and selects."
