Doctor John Bryan McNally (b. 1866 - d. 1928) was born in Leighlin Bridge, Ireland to John and Mary Lynch McNally. At age 11, his family moved to the United States. Dr. McNally received his medical degree from Harneman College and the College of Physicians and Surgeons in San Francisco. In 1896, he moved to Prescott, Arizona Territory, where he was a highly respected physician and surgeon and known as “a friend to the poor,” treating all patients, regardless of their ability to pay, and having never mailed out a bill for services rendered.
During his career, he authored poetry as well as articles published in medical journals such as the Journal of the American Medical Association and the Southwestern Clinic. He was a member of the Yavapai County Medical Association, the Yavapai County Chamber of Commerce, the Elks Lodge, the Red Cross, the Knights of Columbus, the Democratic Party, and Sacred Heart Church. He was also instrumental in conducting the Northern Arizona State Fair and the Frontier Days celebration. He and his wife, Annie (Sweeney) McNally (b. 1875 - d. 1931) had four children, Genevieve, Margaret, John, and Phillip. Dr. McNally died in Prescott on November 22, 1928 and is buried in the Mountain View Cemetery.
