Description

Mary Louise (Evans) Bashford (b. 1850 - d. 1928) was born February 16, 1850 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. She moved to Arizona to join her four sisters who had already established themselves as society leaders in the territorial capital of Prescott, Arizona. On June 29, 1876, she married William C. Bashford, co-founder of the Bashford-Burmister Merchantile Store. In 1878 her husband bought her the house that became know as "The Bashford House" which was then located at 403 E. Gurley Street. This house now stands on the grounds of the Sharlot Hall Museum. The Bashfords moved to California in 1903. She died on February 17, 1928.
