Mary E. (Shivers) Farrington (b. 1851 - d. 1921) was born in Missouri on May 22, 1851. Her father was born in Missouri and her mother was born in Tennesee. Mary's sister was the wife of Morris Goldwater.
Mary married Rufus E. Farrington. They had three children: Blanch Farrington, Earnest Farrington and Emma B. Farrington.
Mary was one of the oldest pioneers in Prescott, Arizona. Her husband, Rufus, came to Arizona with Governor Goodwin's party in 1863. He helped survey and settle Prescott. He was granted a charter by the first territorial legislature to build a toll road from Prescott to Hardyville. When it was completed he sold it to Mr. Hardy for $60,000. The Farringtons moved to Phoenix in 1883 where Rufus was one of the first to embark in the fruit nursery business in the Salt River Valley.
After Rufus' death, Mary moved to Los Angeles, California where she lived until her death.
Handwriting on back of photograph reads: "Mary E. Shivers Farrington. Born May 22, 1851. Died September 6, 1921. Los Angeles, California."
Burial location unknown.
