Description

Margaret "Maggie" Ann (Simmons) Deering (b. 1861 - d. 1945) was born in Kansas in October, 1861. She was the daughter of Thomas Wilson Simmons, born June 26, 1837 in Arkansas and Cynthia Catherine Hawkins, born in Texas, year unknown. She married William Anderson Dearing, a stock raiser in Yavapai County, Arizona, in 1879. They had six children: Claude Wilkins Dearing (b. 1880 - d. 1890), Elmer Aud Dearing (b. 1882 - d. 1883), Mary Grace (Dearing) Kelly (b. 1885 - d. 1969), John Walker Dearing (b. - d. 1889), William Anderson Dearing (b. 1892 - d. 1909), and Jesse Morgan Dearing (b. 1900 - d. 1980).

Margaret died in San Diego County, California on January 12, 1945. She was buried in the Arizona Pioneers Home Cemetery in Prescott, Arizona.

Cora Elizabeth Weaver (b. 1869 - d. 1934) was born on April 26, 1869 in Prescott, Arizona. She was the daughter of Caroline E. Weaver, born 1850 in Missouri, and Benjamin H. Weaver, born 1837 in Michigan.

Cora married Anthony Arthur Johns on March 31, 1892 in Prescott, AZ. Anthony was an attorney, long time President of the Arizona Wool Growers' Association and a member of the Arizona Legislature. As such he was involved with and supported Sharlot Hall's efforts to buy the Territorial Governor's Mansion with the intent to preserve the building and use it as a museum.

Cora died on June 15, 1934 in Prescott. She was cremated and the location of her ashes are unknown although they may possibly be buried at Mountain View Cemetery in Prescott.
