Description

This photo shows the Arizona Territorial Governor's Mansion in Prescott, Arizona. There is a "For Sale" sign on the right of the building above the fence.

The Governor’s Mansion is the oldest building associated with the Arizona Territory still standing on its original location. Built as a log cabin in 1864, it was the center of Arizona’s territorial government from 1864-1867.

In 1895, the life tenant Judge Fleury dies, and the Mansion is left to the Congregational Church in Judge French’s will. The First Congregational Church of Prescott sold the site of the Mansion to Joseph Dougherty for $1,500.  The building began to dilapidate as no one was caring for the oversized log cabin house.
