Description

Alice Mary (Buckley) Day (b. 1878 - d. 1969) was born on July 26,1878 in New York. Her parents were Daniel Buckley, born in 1853 (location unknown) and Bridget Lavinia Gordon Ellis, born in Dublin, Ireland or New York (records vary) on February 1, 1857.

Alice's father died when she was two years old. Her mother then married Dr. Warren E. Day on September 1, 1880 and had ten more children. Dr. Day was Alice's stepfather. He was a surgeon at Fort Verde, Arizona and by 1876 was practicing in Prescott, Arizona. He was a county physician and the first physician at the Pioneers' Home. He practiced medicine until shortly before his death in 1929.

Alice married Daniel R. Gillis in Prescott, Arizona on October 11, 1898. They had a son, Daniel Reid Gillis, and a daughter, Margaret Louise Gillis.

Handwriting on back of photograph reads:" Alice Day."

Alice died on November 25, 1969.

Burial in Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, California.
