Description

Brinkmeyer's Hotel & Bakery in Prescott, Arizona, with undertaker business pictured on the far right.

Henry Brinkmeyer was born in Remsloch, Hanover, Germany in 1866. In 1887, he arrived in the Prescott area and opened a bakery and lunch stand business. The business was later known as the Sumner House and located on Montezuma Street. It was renamed in 1900 to Brinkley's Hotel and Bakery. Although the business was destroyed in the great Prescott fire on July 14, 1900,  Brinkley continued to serve food on the street and began the rebuilding process immediately.
