Description

Information on postcard: top image, "The Roosevelt Dam and Reservoir, January 20, 1916 high water record. Contents 1,552,215 Acre Feet; Depth over spillways 10ft. 9 in."

Middle image; "North-side spillway, 205 ft. long; South-side spillway 220 ft. long. Height of falls 735.77 feet or 72 feet higher than Niagara Falls."

Bottom image; Left side looking down the box-canyon of the Salt River, right side, looking north-east over Reservoir showing the Lodge Hotel and The Dutch Woman Butte.

The plaque on the left of the card states: "The Roosevelt Dam- Height from lowest foundation-784 ft.; Thickness at base-168 ft.; Thickness at crest-20 ft.;Roadway on Dam-16ft.; Length of Dam at base-710ft.; Length of Dam on top-700 ft.; Cement used in dam-338452 cu. ft.; Masonry in Dam- 342,375 sq. ft."

The plaque on the right states: "The Roosevelt Dam; First stone laid, September 20, 1906; Last stone laid, February 5, 1911; Date of Dedication, March 18,1911; Reservoir first filled, April 14, 1915; Storage capacity, 1,362,305 acre feet; Area of reservoir, 254 sq. miles."
