Construction in progress of the Lynx Creek Dam located about 6 miles from downtown Prescott, Arizona, in Yavapai County. Preliminary work on the dam began in March 1890 and commenced in early February 1891. The dam was built by English-born William Pedley and T.G. Barlow-Massicks. The dam was composed of large masonry stone and two walls of Portland cement filled with lime concrete. The Dam was built to serve local placer mining activity. It had over 2,000 feet of flume and 1000 feet of sluice boxes. The Dam was severely damaged and washed out due to flooding in Lynx Creek just days after its completion in February of 1891.
