Picture taken from top of Prescott Heights Drive. The 29,000-acre Battle Fire took off about mid-May 1972, starting at Battle Flat and running up Longfellow Ridge to Union Peak. It burned up several structures at Pine Flat and caused substantial damage to the pine forest in the area. At that time it was said to be the largest wildfire to ever burn in Arizona.
