Paper advertisement for the M. Goldwater & Son Store, located on the corner of Union and Cortez Streets in Prescott.
In 1867, Morris Goldwater (b. 1852 - d. 1938) arrived in Arizona, aspiring to become a merchant like his father. He assisted in the operations of the Goldwater dry goods stores in La Paz and Ehrenberg in northwestern Arizona. In 1872, the Goldwater family opened their first Phoenix store. In 1876, after the closure of the Phoenix store, Morris Goldwater and his brothers Henry and Baron opened a store in Prescott. It was here that Goldwater settled and became active in civic affairs for 20 years.
