Burmister family patriarch Robert Henry Burmister (b. 1847 - d. 1946) was a Prescott businessman, banker, and builder. He came to Prescott in 1874 and married Margaret F. Bashford, daughter of local businessman Coles Bashford. Robert then became a partner in the Bashford family store, and it was known as the Bashford-Burmister Store Inc. He was Prescott mayor in 1900 and involved in various mining and building endeavors in Prescott. Several years later, Robert married his second wife Elna Toller of Georgia who survived him. Robert's gravestone is located in the Burmister family plot in Mountain View Cemetery, Oakland, California.
