Lena (Hartsfield) Malmin (b. 1882 - d. 1928) was born in Yavapai, Arizona in 1882. She was the daughter of Lottie, born in Missouri in September, 1846, and James Hartsfield, born in Georgia in August, 1842. She married Gorman Malmin on November 22, 1918 in Jerome, Arizona.
Lena attended the Tempe Normal School and was an instructor in penmanship in Prescott public schools. She taught 2nd and 3rd grades and was the principal of the Seligman school. During her career she was highly regarded by parents and pupils and was one of the best known teachers in Arizona.
Lena died in California on December 5, 1928.
Handwriting on back of photo reads: "This was taken the same day I was knitting a sweater for a Soldier boy-This gives you a pretty good idea of my size and General appearance-I was standing in front of the Seligman Depot."
