Description

Marcus B. Horovitz, seated on the black Percheron, was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1863 and arrived in New York with his brother Will (William), lacking any knowledge of the language of their new country. Hungarian relatives had sponsored both of the young men, but neither wished to remain in New York. Each were scribes in Budapest; therefore a new type of employment was required in the United States.

They headed West - Will to northern Wisconsin to work in the lumber industry, Marcus to Prescott, Arizona. Marcus started the Percheron Stock Farm, shown in this photo.
