Students and teachers Ed and Lena Hartsfield outside Big Bug School, Mayer Arizona. Joe Mayer bought the train station on Big Bug Creek located 32 miles southeast of Prescott in 1882. The name was changed to Mayer, which was a shipping center for the copper mines in the area. Joe built the first school.
