Kastner arrived in Prescott and established a confectionery store. When the Great Prescott Fire of 1900 destroyed this store, Kastner opened a new store, E. A. Kastner & Company grocers, at 134 W. Gurley. In 1925, Kastner purchased the Piggly Wiggly franchise and retained full ownership.
