According to a Prescott Courier newspaper article dated February 23, 1954, William Boyd (aka Hopalong Cassidy) and his wife, Grace (Bradley) Boyd stayed in Prescott’s Hassayampa Hotel on Sunday, February 21, 1954 while traveling from Tucson, Arizona to Las Vegas, Nevada. The famous couple were in Tucson for the opening of the 29th Annual Fiesta De los Vaqueros (aka Tucson Rodeo) and they were on their way to Las Vegas for a business appointment. Hence, they had a very brief one-night stay in Prescott.
One lucky Prescott youngster, Mary Lou Wagner/Wagoner, daughter of Bill Wagner/Wagoner, an employee at the Hassayampa Hotel, was able to meet and have her picture taken with the famous film and television cowboy, Hopalong Cassidy and his beautiful wife, Grace.
