Photograph looks south along Whiskey Row (Montezuma Street) with the Diana Saloon in foreground and other businesses including the Central Restaurant, Bath House, and Cabinet Saloon.
The Diana Saloon was located on Whiskey Row and opened in September 1868 at the corner of Montezuma and Gurley Streets, where the Hotel St. Michael now stands. The saloon was one of many buildings burned when a fire ravaged Montezuma Street on July 4, 1883, and was rebuilt as the Burke Hotel in 1890. The Burke Hotel opened on January 1, 1891, and an additional story was added to the building in 1895.
