Description

Henry H. Jaycox (b. 1835 - d. 1901) was born in in Rushville, Montgomery County, New York on October 26, 1835. He married Kate Pittman Boves in Wisconsin on November 4, 1855. They had one son, Henry Lafayette Jaycox, who was born on May 4, 1859. Henry left for California in 1858 and was later divorced by his wife on June 11, 1867 for desertion. He married Martha "Jennie" Frances Halley on July 18, 1875 in Oregon. With her, he had three daughters (Luella born in 1876, Iona, born in 1878, and May, born in 1881). Jennie divorced him at La Grand, Union County, Oregon, in 1883. Jaycox died on January 20, 1901.

He was a miner, active in several claims in the Prescott, Arizona area. He also served as a scout and guide as a member of the King S. Woolsey expeditions in 1864. Jaycox's grandson is Lester L. Jaycox and his great-grandson is Don V. Wright.
