Portrait photo of Bill Pierce, the president of the Fair Association and the Prescott Jaycees rodeo chairman at the time of the shooting of the film Junior Bonner druing the summer of 1971. Pierce was also the local Arizona Film Commission representative.
Pierce successfully landed the production of Junior Bonner for Prescott and Yavapai County because he recognized the locales that screenwriter Jeb Rosebrook wrote about and could open doors to secure all the locations. Bill was the chair of the World’s Oldest Rodeo and could integrate the film’s crew, cast and stuntmen into the Parade and Rodeo competitions as they happened in real time. He had also had the ability to work with Junior Bonner director Sam Peckinpah's prickly personality. According to Stuart Rosebrook (Jeb's son), Junior Bonner may not have been made in Prescott had it not been for Pierce's work.
