Photo of actor Steve McQueen (b. 1930 - d. 1980) in the 1972 Western film Junior Bonner. McQueen played the lead role of Junior Bonner and Barbara Leigh starred as his girlfriend. Sam Peckinpah directed the film. McQueen performed his stunt work for realism, including riding out of the chute for the saddle-bronc sequence, but let the stunt man finish the ride.
Junior Bonner was produced in Prescott during the summer of 1971. The film is considered a Western classic and brought Prescott's rodeo to the silver screen.
