Description

Photo of Bill Back of Verde Valley taking his covered wagon up Strawberry Hill. Clarence Boynton described Strawberry Hill as "one bad hill" of many mills during his auto trip with his family and friend Dr. William Warner Watkins and his wife and daughter in 1913. This very steep, rocky and treacherous road nearly defeated the travelers. As Clarence wrote, "It was no country for an auto."
