Description

Charles Louis Spencer (b.1853 - d. 1914) was born in 1853 in Ohio. His father was born in Ohio and his mother was born in Virginia. Names and birth years unknown.

Charlie co-owned a mercantile "Bones and Spencer" in Prescott, Arizona with Jason Bones. He is listed on the Yavapai County, Arizona voting rolls in 1876 and 1882.

In 1877, Charlie was recommended for Prescott Councilman, "being of good morals and business capacity". He was the Deputy Collector of Prescott taxes in 1882.

Charlie and a co-defendent were sued by a California merchant for the non-payment of merchandise purchased. The Arizona Supreme Court ruled on January 17, 1887 that they were liable. In 1887, the Prescott Constable sold lots owned by Charlie to pay the debt.

Handwriting on photograph reads: "Short haired blondes of Prescott. July 14, 1878", Charlie Spencer,? Wilson".

Charlie died on December 25, 1914 in San Mateo, California. He was buried at Olivet Gardens of Cypress Lawn Memorial Park in Colma, California.
