Description

James Edwin Griswold (b.1887 - d.1968) was born on September 18, 1887 in Connecticut. He was the son of William Griswold, born in 1875 in Connecticut, and Isabella (Belden) Griswold, born in 1869 in Connecticut.

James came to Arizona for health reasons. He married Josephine Williams on  July 24, 1916 in Phoenix. They had one son.

James arrived in Prescott, Arizona from Miami, Arizona in 1920. He was employed by the Bashford-Burmister department store as the credit manager from 1927 until the store closed in 1940. James served as Superintendent of the Arizona Pioneers' Home in Prescott from 1951-1955 and was appointed by Governor Howard Pyle.

Handwriting on photograph reads: "Mr. Griswold, Joe Harter".

James died on December 4, 1968 in Prescott. He was buried there in the Mountain View Cemetery.

Joseph Harter (b.1894 - d.1978) was born on April 9,1894 in Wausau, Wisconsin.

Joe was registered for the Draft during World War I and II.

Joe was a maintenance man at the Arizona Pioneers' Home in Prescott, Arizona. HIs last place of residence before his death was in Prescott.

Joe died in October, 1978 in Prescott. He was buried at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Wausau, Wisconsin.
