Prescott Frontier Days has evolved and expanded since it began on July 4, 1888. One of these changes was rodeos held at night. In 1937, Prescott Frontier Days became the first rodeo of its kind in the United States to host an outdoor rodeo at night, with lights, on its 50th anniversary. Night-time rodeo events continue to the present day.
