Description

Henry Clay (b.1849 - d.1916) was born on August 17, 1849 in Illinois. The names and birth dates of his parents are unknown but they were both born in Kentucky.

Henry is listed on the 1870 U.S. Census as a resident of Williamson Valley, Arizona with his occupation as "herder".

He married Mary Ann Buckman on March 30, 1881 in Thompson Valley, Arizona. She was the first female child born in Yavapai County, Arizona. They had eleven children.

Henry attended a stockman's meeting in Williamson Valley in 1886 to discuss rodeos in Walnut Creek and Skull Valley. In 1900, a newspaper article described him as the Williamson Valley fruit man.

The family was living in the Dewey, Agua Fria area of Yavapai County in 1910. Henry's occupation was listed as "farmer".

Henry and Mary Ann divorced, date unknown. Mary Ann remarried in 1915.

Handwriting on photograph reads: "Henry Clay".

Henry died on December 14, 1916 in Humboldt, Arizona. He was buried at IOOF Cemetery in Prescott, Arizona.
