Edward Joseph Cook (b.1825 - d.1901) was born in Alabama (dates given as 1821 and 1825). In 1867 he was the President of the Yavapai County, Arizona Democratic Convention and was on the Democratic ticket in Yavapai County for the House of Representatives. Edward won the election. He was elected to the Yavapai County Supervisors in 1868 and was made the county's treasurer in 1879.
Edward's first wife, Carrie, died on September 15, 1869. His second wife was Harriet "Hattie" Gray Cook. Edward had two children: Edward H. Cook and Nina Cook.
In 1877, he was an officer of the Masons Aztlan Lodge #177. He was known as the "Father of Odd Fellowship in Arizona".
Handwriting on photograph reads: "Edward J. Cook, County Treasurer Yavapai-Prescott, A.T. July 7, 1878".
Edward died on January 8, 1901 in Arizona and was buried at the Los Angeles Odd Fellows Cemetery in Los Angeles, California.
