George Arthur Buchanan (b. 1904 – d. 1965) was born November 9, 1904 in New York City. He was the son of George Arthur and Greta Nichols (Collison) Buchanan. He married Julia (Mann) Buchanan (b. 1903 – d. 1991) on February 9, 1935 in Darien, Connecticut.
They had two sons, George C. and James (Jim) B. At the time of his death, his son George C. was living in Globe, Arizona and Jim was living in Prescott, Arizona.
At the time of his death, he had been a resident of Prescott for 18 years. He served as zoning and planning director for the City of Prescott (1956 – 1961). Prior to that, he had opened a brokerage office and was involved in real estate and construction. He was a member of the Prescott Rotary Club and of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
He died June 7, 1965 of self-inflicted gunshot wounds at his family ranch, Sundown Ranch, in Prescott. Both he and his wife are buried in Mountain View Cemetery, Prescott.
