Description

William “Willie” Lee Palmer (b. 1881 – d. 1971) was born September 15, 1881 in Fairmont, West Virginia. His parents were Henry Charles “Clay” Palmer and Nancy Pauline Elizabeth (Robinson) Palmer (1844 – 1918). Draft registration cards: WWI, 1917-1918; WWII, 1942. He was the third of four children surviving their birth year. His occupation was as a mining and oil engineer.

He was an Arizona resident for 62 years; his last 40 years were spent at Castle Hot Springs, Yavapai County, Arizona. He died August 4, 1971. His survivors included his wife, Elvia Dahlia (Neal) Palmer; two daughters: Mrs. Pauline Elizabeth (Palmer) Gloyd (1903 – 1994) and Mrs. Willella (Palmer) Smotel (1913-1995) of Long Beach, California and three sons: James W. (1906 – 1987) of Chico, California, Paul Eugene “Gene” (1908 – 2001) of Gila Bend, Arizona and Harold H. (1922 – 2005) of Phoenix, Arizona. Hampton Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. He is buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Prescott, Arizona.

*Castle Hot Springs, Morristown, Arizona was restored and reopened in 2019 and is listed as an Historical Hotels of America by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
