Description

Alfred Ernest Joscelyn (b.1858 - d.1945) was born in New York on January 1, 1858. His parents were born in New York, names unknown. He usually went by the name "A.E. Joscelyn".

The 1880 US Census in Saginaw, Michigan states he was working in a sash factory.

He married Henriette Charlotte Flohr. They had two children.

Alfred is listed in the Arizona, Yavapai County, Voting Records in 1890, 1896 and 1898. He was a candidate for Probate Judge in Yavapai County in 1896.

Alfred was the Principal at the Kingman school (Kingman, Arizona) in 1897 as well as the editor of the Arizona Educator, an educational magazine, first published in Jerome, Arizona and then Kingman.

The US Census in 1900 states he was living in Sacramento, California. In 1903, he and his family were living in Portland, Oregon.

The writing on the photograph reads: "Fraternally yours, A. E. Joscelyn. President, Arizona Territorial Teachers' Association."

A. E. died on June 3, 1945 in Napa, California. He is buried in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Colma, California.
