Thomas R. King (b. 1827 - d. 1907) was born on September 28, 1827 in Deptford, Kent, England. His parents (names unknown) were born in England.
Thomas immigrated to the United States in 1849.
He became a cattleman in Chino Valley, Arizona. His nephew, Thomas W. King (an immigrant from Canada) joined him in the cattle business in Chino Valley. In 1900 they purchased the 160 acre J.P. Storm Ranch, cattle and some horses which totaled their ranch holding to over 2000 acres in the Big Chino Valley.
Thomas married, but no information was found for his wife. He was widowed.
Handwriting on front of photograph reads: "Thomas R. King of Prescott, Arizona, cattleman -- and California '49er, native of Deptford, Kent." Typed information on a sticker on the back reads: "Believed to be the first settler in Big Chino Valley. Founder of the King Cattle Ranch in Big Chino."
Thomas died on June 19, 1907 in Chino Valley. He was buried in Prescott, Arizona in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) Cemetery.
