Madison Roby "M.R." Loring (b. 1878 - d. 1964) was born on July 5, 1878 in Arizona. He was the son of George E. Loring, Sr, born in Massachusetts in 1854 and Margaret Ann (Roby) Loring, born in New Hampshire in 1853.
He was reportedly the first person to graduate from Phoenix Union High School. He was accepted into the Phoenix Fire Department, Victor Hose Company 3, on July 12, 1898. He then was employed as a clerk in the Prescott, Arizona post office. In 1903, he accepted a position with the postal service in Washington, D.C.
He is listed as a resident of Los Angeles, California in the US Census for 1930, 1940, 1950.
M.R. married Gladys Mae Galer in California on June 26, 1920.
Handwriting on photograph reads: "Picture taken at the race track grounds. Must have been about 1902 or 3. Chief Clerk, Prescott, P.O. for several years and much interested in athletics. Played football on the Phoenix High School team and was manager one year, at the same time Senator Hayden was manager at the Tempe Normal School. Also played football on the Prescott team".
M. R. died in San Dimas, California. Burial details are unknown.
