Description

On February 16, 1962, Prescott Mayor Frank Tutt established a commission of prominent Arizonans to guide and coordinate the centennial observance of Prescott’s founding. The City of Prescott, the birthplace of American government in Arizona and the first state capital, celebrated its first 100 years in 1964. Mayor Tutt formally designated Arizona Governor Paul Fannin as honorary chairman of the Centennial Commission.

L. W. (Budge) Ruffner was named Commission Chairman. He worked with an executive committee consisting of William A. Coerver, Gail I. Gardner, Dr. Charles Franklin Parker, J. Phil Rockfellow, and George Rothfuss.
