Description

Warren Potts (b.approximately 1854 - d.1917) was born in March, 1854 in Illinois. He was the son of Charles Potts, born 1826 in England and Jane, born 1825 in England.

He is recorded as owning land in Yavapai County, Arizona Territory in 1882 and being on the voter roles in Yavapai County in 1886 and 1890.

Warren married Josephine "Josie" E. Stephens, on February 7, 1883 in Yavapai County. They had two children, Queenie Potts and Warren C. Potts.

He owned the Weekly Journal-Miner in 1899.

Warren was a business partner with Thomas Bullock in the Prescott and Central Arizona Railroad in the late 1880's. This railroad would eventually connect to the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad. He followed Mr. Bullock to California in the early 1890's where he was employed as an engineer for Bullock's West Coast Construction Company, the contractor to build the Sierra Railway. He was instrumental in obtaining right-of-way. Later, he served as Superintendent of the Sierra Railway and Sugar Pine Railway. He was also a minor shareholder in the Sierra Railway.

Warren died in Sacramento, California on July 7, 1917. Burial was at the Masonic Lawn Cemetery in Sacramento.
