Description

Mine workers and a woman pose outside a Company building at the Swiss Girl Mine, Yavapai County, Arizona. The Swiss Girl was one of the twenty-five mining claims (500 acres) held by the Baumann Copper Company in the Agua Fria section of the Bradshaw Mountain Range. All the claims followed a northwest-southeasterly coursing spur of the Black Hills, and at an elevation of about 500 feet above the Agua Fria River (two miles away.) The so-named “Verde Copper Belt” was fifteen miles east of Prescott and extended from Jerome on the north and Copper Mountain on the south.
