The Lion was a copper, gold, and silver mine located in Yavapai County, Arizona at an elevation of 4,600 feet.
An article in the Arizona Daily Journal-Miner,” July 16, 1902, p. , entitled Mining Intelligence said the following: “Mark Bradley, superintendent of the Lion Gold Mining company, is pushing work on the company’s property on Cherry creek. He is working three shifts in the shaft, which is now down 210 feet, of which fifty-six feet has been sunk this month. A body of free milling gold ore two feet wide, and which assays $12 per ton, was struck in the shaft.”
Printing on border of photograph says: “Lion Gold Mining Company, Cherry Creek District, 5 foot Huntington Mill. Amalgamation and concentration.”
