For the benefit of a Los Angeles chamber of Commerce excursion party (1927), one ton of dynamite was exploded by the United Verde Copper Company at Jerome, Yavapai County, Arizona. The purpose was to show the visitors how "some of it is done" to extract ore from hardened ground in the great mining district of the Verde.
